First Film (The 100)

The 100

The key features of this scene is the fight and what people think about the fight. Also the key feature is the way that some of the characters act towards the fight and what they can do to have the person they want to win. Further more it shows us that not everything is as good as it seems.

The character motivation in this scene is that two people from different clans want to fight for the right to lead there people. Also the character motivation of this scene is that the main male character isn't fighting for himself but is fighting for his mother who happens to be the queen of a different clan. Also when the lead female character says "Jus drein jus daun" which means "Blood Must Have Blood" this tells us that the lead female character has a reason to kill the Queen for wanting to get revenge for something that she has done.

The camera movement on this varies this can be shown with close ups this is shown when all you can really see the two people who are fighting faces. It also uses the depth of field because they are clearer than the background and what is behind them. The camera work also goes to an overview point where you can see the overview of the whole arena and what is actually going on between the two who are fighting and the others who are on the higher platform. It also goes into a close shot on everyone on the platform. At the beginning of the scene there is a close up shot of someone tapping a drum and all you can see is their hand until the camera goes onto a wider shot of a group of people and you can see the person also playing the drum in a wider view so we just don't just get his hand tapping the drum.

The setting of this is scene is in a vacant area with enough room for anyone to go an watch it and still enough room to fight. The setting also consists of a stage that sits the more priority and the people who are in charge more than anyone else. The colours on this clip are pretty good I can tell this by when the faces of the fighters appear darker because their faces aren't really getting into any light. The main lighting of this scene is an artificial light because of it being filed outside so the lighting of this will be from the light outside and the sun. You can also see the light by the shadows of tall buildings. The mise en scene in this scene starts of with a drum to symbolize the begging of a war or fight. I can tell this because when a war or fight is about to start then there is a drum being heard to begin a fight, the drum in this scene looks as though it has been used quite a lot because it looks old and looks as though there is different cracks all over it. Another mise en scene in this scene is the swords, the swords can symbolize the danger of what is happening and the time like medieval time that it was being held in.

The editing of this I think is good because of how well it carries from one part to another in a smooth rhythm. This is shown when it goes from one person to the next and the fight is clear and you can see everything that is happening in it.

The meaning of this is don't challenge someone and think that you will win. This is shown when the Commander kills the Queen of Azgeda and she was the one who challenged her in the first place thinking that she will take over the power of the Clans and kill all Skaikru.

The use of the sound in this is good I can tell this by the quality of the sound and the way that every word is said clear and you can hear the way that the swords clash together. The sound is quite muffled at one part because of people talking over each other and all you can hear is voices but not knowing where they are coming from and who is the one speaking this tells us that they are all in a hurry and all want to see the fight and want to be the people who can be heard over every one else and them trying to be a person with more authority. You can also hear the sound of the drum being played as if it's louder than anyone else in the arena this tells us that the person who is playing the drum has a reason to be playing it like it's a warning or a message to anyone who is near him that something bad will happen eventually. As the person on the platform you can't hear anyone else talking and all you can hear is the person on the platform talking. His voice is carried out among all the arena so that everyone can hear him this tells us that the character has more authority over anyone else in the arena and that he is respected by people who are there and he has the main reason to voice himself rather than anyone else speaking over him.
